The first thing I did for this piece was to carve the foam with positive and negative space to make a wave. Second thing I did, I picked and mixed colors to become more realistic. Third thing I did is to make a base that represents as the ground/sand. Next thing I did is to paint both of the objects. Lastly, I cleaned everything up to make it more representable. One thing I struggled with during the process would be focusing on carving the wave part because the foam we used was really soft so one wrong move you make it messes up everything and you have to reconnect them again which would make your life way harder. The way I overcame with this difficulty is by doing it slowly and taking time so it won't look untidy. I picked these colors for my artwork because I thought It would be a good Idea if choose the right color to represent the actual object. For instance, color blue represents the color of the wave and color brown to represents as the ground/sand underneath. What I found successful about this piece is how the outcome looks cute and very admirable.

what is clay slab? |
The first thing I did is to make a perfect shape of a mug. Second thing I did is to design the front and the back part of the mug. Since ocean was my theme, I put some corals, reefs, an anchor and wave for the background. Next thing, I did my handle. 'Til then, I waited until they are ready to be painted. Last thing I did, I painted them with good colors; more of an ocean color. |
| I used 'C' handle but twisted 'C' handle to look more fantasy and oceanic. Ways I made this handle, is just a regular process of making an original handle and in the end I twisted them by adding more layers of clay. |
I found successful in my artwork is how it actually turned out decent and adequate. At first, I had thoughts that it wouldn't look like a relief project and not be able to check off the requirements it needed so I had to really think about what would be the outcome like and how should I work on it. Though, I am contented with the result by also adding colors and more of details to it. Some advices I would say to the new students if they make this kind of project, brainstorm what you want to do, make sure that you are on the right track so you don't get too rush it and lastly think wisely. One thing I could've done differently is that I would be changing the base because I rushed doing it and If you try to move the project it is really unbalanced and If you'd look at the base for few seconds it looks unorganized and it would seems like I didn't put any effort or did not really get a time to fix it. |
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
