THE PROCESS OF PAPER MACHEFirst things first, we collected trash, paper and a trash bag. We collected these items because we wanted to put the trash into a trash bag and shaped it into a fish. Second, we made the fins out of cardboard. Once we had the shape that we wanted, we mixed 50% glue and 50% water and we spreaded on the fish using our hands so that we can put the paper towels on the fish, we repeated this process three more times. After waiting for a day for it to dry, we started to put a softer type of paper towel on top of the fish to make new layers. How was your piece successful? My piece was successful because the outcome of the product looked very similar to what I expected to be. What difficulties did you have with it?One of the difficulties that we faced were they layers. It was challenging because it took a lot of time to put them all together in little pieces especially since our piece is big.
The process..The first step is to get a piece of clay and form it into a ball. After throwing the ball of clay onto the wheel, make the wheel start spinning. At this point I squeezed my hands towards the center of the wheel. After coning, the mound of clay is flattened on the top. Next, I used my thumbs to press down into the clay. Next step, I pulled up to make th cylinder higher. Lastly, shaping it by the way I wanted by moving my hands outward, an open bowl-like shape. One thing I found difficult was by making the cylinder shape. Although, one thing I found successful about it is the outcome. I really like the color that was combine. It looks like an object that was found back in 1880's around in Egypt.
The technique I used for my Pit fire project was coiling. The first thing I did was to make a base. Once the base was all set I finished it off with rolling clays to build up the shape that I wanted. Later on I used my hand to make it look well organized. Some difficulties that happened was the shape did not hold up and had a challenging time to clean up the inside of it. One thing I found successful about this was the shape turned out what I wanted to be. My plan from here is to think of what should be the colors and designed to go with it. FINAL PRODUCT
How did you get your idea?I got this idea because I saw a picture that I got inspired by before. I also wanted to decorate the pot with designs similar to a mandala. explain the process so far...I started off with making the piece by coiling it. Next, I made handles to put on the sides of the pot. Then, I started to think about the designs It would be on it. Lastly, I thought of making the piece black and white except for the bottom part which is color green. What did you think of the sgraffito process? I think the process was similar to the previous work I've done in class. The process was already familiar to me because this I used coiling for this piece and I also use coiling for my pit fire work. I also to design it with mandala because I've always had a passion for it and I had a collection of mandala. How was your piece successful and how might you change it if you were to do it again? This piece was successful because the outcome was close to what I wanted. But If I had the chance to change it I would change the shape of the vase to make it taller and skinnier.
ASSIGNMENT 1 I did rolling, tearing, straight scoring, indenting, pleats, zigzag pleats and pop ups techniques. Meanwhile, my partner, Alisha did the rest which is the textured surface, tabbing: integral tab, invisible tab, layered relief, blocked relief, crimping and the letter of her first name techniques. Yes, I do feel more familiar with paper sculpture after completing it. In progress... Finished piece |
